I remember my first meeting with Joy so clearly, as she had brought a bunch of bubbly female relatives with her to the consultation. Her mum, aunties and grandmother were all so lovely, I remember thinking how lucky she was to come from such a wonderful close-knit family. Her grandmother in particular was so charming, telling me all about her oyster wedding dress which she still had to this day (what I wouldn't give to try on that vintage gown!).
I've been a huge admirer of the incredibly talented Neil Thomas Douglas Photography for a long time, so when I heard that he was taking the pictures for Joy & Drew I couldn't wait to see them. Neil took some absolutely amazing shots, the photos in the forest are to die for!
Joy told me she was looking for a cake that would tie in with her stunning colour scheme of dusky blues with hints of apricot, neutrals and gooseberry. She wanted to incorporate lace, and have an overall effect that was classic elegance, without being too traditional. The end result was one of my favourite designs to date, with all four tiers being white chocolate and passion fruit. We also made some beautiful matching cupcakes for the church guests, and a wee extra box of gluten free for Aunt Eleanor :)
It was a genuine pleasure working with this lovely couple, we wish them all the happiness in the world. Thanks also to Neil Thomas Douglas for generously sharing his work with us, it's much appreciated.
